The Bahamas to Debut their CBDC in October

The Central Bank of the Bahamas announced that it will begin the gradual national release of its digital currency called the Sand Dollar.

This might be the world’s first retail CBDC. To support the transition, the private sector, including banks and credit unions will ready their systems to be compliant with regulation. The main focus here would be mobile wallets for users. The goal is to make it available to all residents and allow them to reap its many benefits
